Mariona Graupera

Project Coordinator

Mariona Graupera is a group leader at the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute. She obtained her PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Barcelona, focusing on the pathobiology of endothelial cells in liver cirrhosis. She carried out postdoctoral studies with Bart Vanhaesebroeck first at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research and later the Barts Institute of Cancer, London where she was involved in characterizing the physiological role of class I PI3K isoforms. In particular, Mariona Graupera unravelled the importance of being selective in angiogenesis during development. In 2009 she had the opportunity to create a multidisciplinary laboratory devoted to study PI3K/PTEN signalling in physiopathological angiogenesis at IDIBELL with a Ramon y Cajal position. In February 2021 Mariona Graupera was appointed the Group Leader of the Endothelial Pathobiology and Microenvironment Group to the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute where she combines her passion for biomedical research and vascular biology with the training of students and postdocs. Her group investigates the role of blood vessels in disease towards the development of therapeutic strategies to target the vascular compartment.

Laia Muixi

Project Manager

Laia Muixi has a PhD in Immunology from Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB) and has more than 15 years of research experience. She began her career doing a PhD at Dra Jaraquemada’s lab at the Institut de Biotecnologia i de Biomedicina “Vicent Villar Palasí” (IBB, UAB) where she studied the peptides presented by HLA-DR in autoimmune human Thyroids. She did a short postdoc at Dra. Sierra’s lab at IDIBELL and then she worked as lab manager in different research groups at IDIBELL. In December 2016, Laia joined Dra. Graupera’s lab at IDIBELL where she started working on other aspects of science and she combined her work as lab manager with the managing of MSCA-H2020 ITNs. Currently she is the project manager of the PIPgen Project at Graupera’s lab at the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute.
